SID Series: Secure Destruction of Passports and IDs

Didier Rutten on 23-10-2025

Destroying a passport is not the same as shredding a regular document. Passports contain multiple layers of paper, laminates, security features, and an RFID chip. This makes the destruction process more complex: it is not only about making the document physically unusable, but also about ensuring that the sensitive data it contains can never be recovered or misused. Governments and institutions around the world face the challenge of how to securely, reliably, and efficiently destroy passports and identity cards.

At Royal Dutch Kusters Engineering, we have developed the Secure Information Destruction (SID) Series specifically for this purpose. These systems are designed to handle the safe destruction of passports, ID cards, and other highly confidential documents. Unlike generic shredders, which often struggle with the combination of durable covers, plastic laminates, and embedded RFID chips, the SID Series provides a tailored solution.SID-250 vrijstaand

The SID Series combines high throughput with maximum security. With a destruction capacity of 75 to 500 kilograms per hour, both small batches and large volumes can be processed efficiently. The intake allows for 70 to 500 pages or passports per batch, making the system highly versatile. The destruction process reduces materials to a shred size as small as DIN 5 and below.

The Document destruction systems (SID Series) offer efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly destruction of secure or classified documents in the form of loose or boxed paper.

✔  Destruction with optional feeding conveyor
✔  Intake of passports, PVC cards, ID cards, Credit Cards, etc.
✔  Shred size of DIN5 and smaller

✔  Destruction capacity 75 - 500 kg / hr (shred size depending)
✔  Shred handling by means of briquetting system or
     shred collection unit

In addition to throughput and security, the SID Series offers ease of operation. An optional conveyor system enables automatic feeding, allowing for continuous and hands-off processing. The machines are designed to minimize dust formation. Residual material can be collected via a briquetting system or a secure collection unit, ensuring controlled and sustainable waste handling.

Built for long-term use, the SID Series requires little maintenance thanks to its robust design. Beyond the machines themselves, Royal Dutch Kusters Engineering also provides complete service and support, including installation, spare parts, and tailored service packages.
